CME, Conferences, Workshops & Faculty Development Activities
The Institute is committed to promoting continuous professional development, academic enrichment and excellence in medical education through regular CME programmes, guest lectures, conferences, workshops, interactive academic sessions and faculty-development initiatives. These activities provide opportunities for faculty members and students to engage with experts from various fields and remain updated with advances in medical science and healthcare.
The Medical Education Unit (MEU) of the Institute actively contributes to faculty development and competency-based medical education. The MEU has successfully conducted two Basic Course in Medical Education (BCME) workshops:
- First BCME Workshop: 24–26 September 2024
- Second BCME Workshop: 7–9 April 2026
The Institute also encourages and facilitates faculty members to pursue the Advanced Course in Medical Education (ACME). As part of this initiative, two faculty members are encouraged/nominated every six months to participate in the ACME programme at the designated NMC Nodal Centre for Faculty Development. These programmes strengthen faculty competencies in competency-based medical education, teaching-learning methodologies, assessment, curriculum planning and educational research.
The Institute has also organised and hosted several academic and professional enrichment activities, including:
- Interactive academic discussion: “COVID-19 Vaccination Today – Making Informed Decisions”, conducted on 14 February 2024 at Kiran Medical College, Surat, with Dr. Aditya Gaur, Director, Clinical Research, Infectious Diseases, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, USA, and faculty members of KMC.
- Guest Lecture: “Reflections of a Pediatric HIV Care Provider & Researcher on the Science and Practice of Medicine” delivered to undergraduate students by Dr. Aditya Gaur, Director, Clinical Research, Infectious Diseases, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, USA, and Dr. Vikas Desai, Retired Director, Family Welfare Department, Government of Gujarat and Retired Professor & Head, Community Medicine, Government Medical College, Surat.
- Interactive Session on NTEP: Conducted on 25 February 2026 by Dr. Ashok Bhardwaj, Chairman, NTEP National Task Force, providing students and faculty with an opportunity to interact with an expert on the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme.
- 9th International Conference on Basic and Applied Physiology: Organised from 19–21 December 2025, providing a platform for academic exchange, scientific presentations and professional interaction in the field of physiology.
- Hands-on Workshop on Embalming: Conducted by the Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, providing practical exposure and skill-based learning in embalming techniques.
In addition, various CME programmes, guest lectures, seminars, workshops, conferences and interdepartmental academic activities are conducted periodically by different departments of the Institute. These initiatives promote evidence-based learning, interdisciplinary interaction, research orientation, practical skills and continuous professional development among faculty members and students.
Through these activities, the Institute strives to create dynamic academic environment that supports lifelong learning, professional development and continuous quality improvement in medical education
Clinical Trials Day Observes every year on May 20, 2022, by raising clinical trial awareness and honoring clinical research professionals across the globe.
